Top ten Tuesday: books that I read because someone on blogger or shelfari did a fabulous review of it

TOP TEN TUEDAY is a meme held by Julia @ 'The Broke and the Bookish'. Click Here to see her Top Ten.

I have changed this weeks theme slightly because I wanted to include some of the wonderful books I discovered on Shelfari.com

1. THE HAND THAT FIRST HELD MINE by Maggie O'Farrell
So many people on Shelfari gave this 5 stars that I just had to read it for myself. The writing style of this author was so beautiful and intriguing. I think this book should be read based on the quality of the writing alone. The story is also amazing ofcourse.

2.THE GREAT GATSBY by F.Scott Fitzgerald
Also recommended by one of my buddies o Shelfari. Again amazing writing. A very era specific book. Very Vogue.

3. GRAVEMINDER by Melissa Marr
Chances are I would have eventually bought it anyway, because this author is terrific, but there was definitely one review that sold this book to me. I was worried that it would be a little scary for someone like me, but I quite enjoyed it.

4.IMAGINARY GIRLS by Nova Ren Suma
One of those books that I had no idea about until I saw it on a blog. The cover was pretty, but again it was one of those covers that had me expecting either a horrific mind twister or a mind twister in general. Neither of which I seem to be any good with. All the reviews were about 4 or 5 stars.

5.HERE LIES BRIDGET by Paige Harbison
Something that I would of again discarded as too dark and moved on. I'm so glad that i didn't though because this book helped me to understand why people are the way that they are. A great read for anyone who has ever been bullied.

6.THE PACT by Jodi Picoult
This one was a little too sick for my liking. Atleast I learnt my limits. Everyone Else seemed to like it.

BOOKS I BOUGHT BECAUSE OF A  REVIEW, BUT JUST HAVEN"T GO AROUND TO READING YET:

7. BLOODLINES by Richelle Mead
I haven't even read Vampire Accademy, because I had my doubts. Hopefully I will be able to understand this book without haveing done so. It's gotten spectacular reviews.

8. THE GIRL WITH THE GLASS FEET by Ali Shaw
I was asking around for Magical Realism titles on Shelfari and this is what one of the girls came up with.

9.ONE DAY by David Nicholls
Because, It is supposed to be breathtaking...

BOOKS I WANT TO OWN BECAUSE OF THE REVIEW:

10. TO KILL A MOCKING BIRD by Harper Lee
It's also a classic.

I have quite a few books I bought after reading a great review or several. One of which is If I Stay, I think just about everyone has read and raved about this one. Great list!

One Day is yet another book I found here and there on my various blog visits.

It's astonishing how many books I've discovered by visiting blogs!

Here's my list, Top Ten Books I Read Because of Another Reader. I'd also invite you to sign up for the contest to win a $25 Amazon giftcard this month at my blog.

I did a reread of the Great Gatsby because it just keeps popping up on blogger lists all over the place,- and it had been so long since I read it last.

Graveminder is on my list too, and I also can't remember where I first heard about it. It was a little more gruesome than I thought it would be, and left a lot of questions hanging at the end, but it was still good.

To Kill a Mockingbird is a classic for a reason -- it's awesome!

I did an online order recently and decided not to get Dr Zhivago or To kill aMockingbird because I would be going shopping later that week and there would be a sale. When I got to the shop I couldn't find them anywhere! It was so annoying.
