Lipstick Review: Glamourflage Lou Allure

I purchased these lipsticks recently and have been contemplating  writing a review of them since. There are things that i like about them and things that I don't like about them. They are not the perfect lipsticks, however I am sad to say that there won't be much point to this review as Glamourflage seems to have removed most of their cosmetic range from their website including these lipsticks. I cannot seem to find any indication anywhere as to whether or not the lipsticks will be released again in the future...

I decided to continue with the review for the likes of those people who have access to any clearance glamourflage lipsticks available in shops. I also, decided to continue with the review as a plea for Glamourflage to please continue with their cosmetics line, as their products do have some good qualities.

^Here is a picture of the Glamourflage lipsticks with the LimeCrime lipsticks I also bought.

Like the review I did of the LimeCrime lipsticks I thought I'd break this one up into categories. The lipsticks will be assessed on packaging, colour, moisture and staying power. I thought I'd also suggest a few beauty looks that could be achieved with the lipsticks.

PACKAGING: While the Glamourflage packaging is really cute, I am worried that it will not outlast the lipsticks. The packaging is made of paper/cardboard and I'm already having difficulty putting the lids on, just after using the lipsticks for a week. I would love to know if there is a lipstick refill style case that these would fit into and how i could transfer the lipsticks...

Also, the names of the colours aren't written on the bottom of the lipstick tube, so I've had to learn to remember which code stands for which colour.

COLOUR: I ordered the 'Teacup Rose' and 'Chestnut'. These colours were not as dark (or as purply) as they looked in the pictures, but they are still really sweet neutral colours. The lipsticks are similar in colour one is darker and more "pink" while the other is more sheer and is a warmer shade. These shades are perfect for those trying to get a toned-down vintage look.

MOISTURE: These lipsticks go on really smooth. They are really luxurious to apply and really moisturising. I tend to wear them over lip balm anyway because my lips are really dry. I think these lipsticks will be great for the up-coming winter months where dryer long-lasting lipsticks will not be getting much use.

STAYING POWER: This is something that the Glamourflage lipsticks lack. Having said that I don't think that  this is what makes or breaks a lipstick. There are plenty of more well-known expensive brands that don't have staying power and it is quite common for moisturising lippies to lack the ability to last.

SUGGESTED LOOKS:
-For a vintage glow: Highlight cheekbones with a shimmer and apply a hint of mauve or brown to the eyelids.
-For a hint of colour: Sweep on some rosy blusher and apply a soft green or blue shadow.

^This lipstick is the 'Chestnut' one.

^Here is a picture of me wearing 'Tea-cup Rose'.

As you can see the lipsticks are quite similar, but they are definitely not exactly the same. The pictures I took weren't exactly the best, I'm discovering that it is quite difficult to take pictures of things and get accurate colours.

Overall, I really like the lipstick and think They will definitely get a lot of use over this winter. I think if glamourflage made a few changes to the packaging this lipstick would definitely sell.

Beauty Review: Glamourflage Raunchy Rosie Hand Cream

Size: 120ml
RRP: $25.95

DESCRIPTION:
Love is in the air – or is it Rosie’s perfume? When she gives you that look – you know you’re in for a treat. While most of us are hard-wired to hide our vulnerability, she revels in her own demons. It would be an understatement of criminal proportions to say Rosie embraces life: trying everything from private investigator to amateur surfing, resting only (on luxurious laurels) to momentarily whisper “If in doubt: pout” and dismiss all else as “details”.

Packed full of 7 different moisturisers (including Macadamia Nut Oil, Coconut Oil and vitamin E) - a classic for repairing any damages life may inflict. Underpinned by a good dash of aloe vera - what can we say… its miraculous soothing and anti-inflammatory qualities are legendary. If you don't emerge from using this product as a screen siren then we'll burn our sauciest undergarments.

MY THOUGHTS:
As a person who has dry hands (and the occasional eczema breakout) I can see the need for hand cream in the world. Most hand creams that I have tested made me think otherwise. Hand cream, just washes off. And, how many times a day does one wash ones hands? I think the Raunchy Rosie hand cream, the cute packaging and the Freesia scent has restored my faith in hand cream.

My favourite thing about this hand cream is that it isn't too thick. Many hand creams tend to be very thick (like a body butter) and don't soak into skin very easily. Raunchy Rosie is more like a lotion and soaks in quickly. So, when I wash my hands my hand cream doesn't go down the drain with the soap suds, because it has already been absorbed by my skin. Another great thing about the thickness (or lack thereof) with this hand cream is that you don't need to use as much hand cream as you normally would; you only need a small amount to moisturise your hands well.

I also, really like the Freesia scent. I normally don't like my beauty/body products to be scented because the fragrance can over-power my perfume. I really liked the Freesia scent though, because it was a nice and fresh fragrance, compared to the boring unscented hand cream I usually use. The scent was also quite mild, I could only faintly smell it when applying the product.

While I love the packaging on the tin, I think if I were buying this product for myself I would purchase the 60ml tube to keep in my bag. The tin is more appropriate for a bed-side or coffee table.

Overall, I think Glamourflage has won me over with this hand cream. The Freesia scent is really nice and the cream is very efficient.

Also in Freesia scent:

-Vera Vamp Body Cream 100ml
-Vera Vamp Body Cream 250ml

My First Beauty Review: Glamourflage Sultry Sophie Lip/Cheek Stain

So exciting! This is my first beauty product review. To tell you the truth that was something I never thought I'd be writing. It's not that I have anything against beauty products -I don't, I love em- It's just that I didn't actually think about it. I've decided not to do a rating system for these products, because I haven't really rated one before. I don't think that I can rate a beauty product like I can a book or movie. It's not that it's unfamiliar territory exactly, but I just don't think I've experienced the range of products I have with literature.
Size: 8.5ml
RRP: $19.95

PRODUCT DESCRIPTION:
Sweep your rivals off their feet as you emerge rouged and ready to go! Dazzle suitors and blind beaus as you sashay through the day - your lips and cheeks hinting at the excitement to come!

Sophie has a BA in bantering, a Masters in mincing and a Phd in philandering. When anyone complains, she gives a secret smile and says ‘Life’s hard – get a helmet’! For tomorrow, as Scarlett O’Hara so succinctly put it, is indeed another day!

MY THOUGHTS:
This product was surprisingly unlike a beauty product and more like a book; the lip/cheek stain was nothing like I expected. Which is strange for a beauty product. Normally I see a product and think that I know exactly what it's going to look like. The only surprise with most beauty products is the quality. With this product I imagined that I would use it as a lip stain only, and that it would be a bright red colour. I discovered after use that it is entirely different from my expectations, but not at all worse.

The Sultry Sophie stain comes in the packaging show above. It's absolutely adorable. When I unscrew the lid and lift a brush applicator coated in a pinky-red liquid appears. I lift it to my lips and start to apply...

The first thing I noticed (thought) was that the brush applicator could be difficult to use. I've never seen a brush applicator attached to the lid of any product that wasn't a nail polish before. I'm used to sponge applicators. Also, the strands of the brush were quite long. And, when applicating I did have a bit of an issue trying to get the stain to coat my lips evenly (I read later on the websites that they recommend using your fingers to apply the stain). I also decided to apply some sparingly to my cheek-bones with my fingers even though I thought cheek-stain was an odd idea. How wrong was I?!

I discovered later that  Q-tips, foundation sponges or a lip brushes are probably a not-as-messy method of application compared to using your fingers, because my fingers had a very vibrant pink stain happening that took quite a few goes with soap and water to remove . The stain soaked into my face well, but my lips wouldn't absorb it unless I held them still (lips slightly parted) because it smudges and comes off easily when wet. I recommend applying to lips before doing the rest of your make-up to give the stain time to soak in.

The stain goes on a bright pink colour, but becomes a lighter pink (slightly more natural looking) glow. Which is very far away from the red colour I originally imagined. I quite like this colour for a blusher, but am not overly interested in using it as a lip colour. There's nothing wrong with it really, but I'm just not the sort of person that has the control to let the stain soak in without pressing my lips together or licking them before it has a chance. That, and I prefer the darker, thicker appearance of a matte lipstick. I think lip-stain is probably a longer lasting version of lip-gloss, great for those who prefer gloss over lipstick.

^Please excuse the pimples :/

Overall I really like this product as a blusher. It's a really nice shade that blends easily and lasts a long time. I've used a fair few different blush creams and powders before and none of them have lasted as well as this one (unless you pile it on like a clown to begin with and avoid direct sunlight). I think this product is great for rainy days (or overly hot sweaty days) where make-up normally wouldn't be an option. It's also a great product for people who want their make-up to stay on for longer.
