Pretty Picture Post: The Lady is a Vamp (Part 3)

Hi Everyone,
I usually post a 'Lady is a Vamp' picture post around Halloween, so I guess I'm a little early this year... Just kidding! The reason I decided to post another one of these picture posts is because I've been thinking about writing a post about dressing for an occasion when you aren't sure what the dress code is. The most useful tip I was going to include in the post was to wear black. I know, I know, not very original. And, I started thinking about all the different ways you can wear black, because it is so versatile. I ended up on pinterest saving a lot of pictures of women in black lacy gowns and thought that I couldn't wait till halloween to share them.

I have to admit, I've also become a little obsessed with Dita Von Teese recently and I'm very excited about her latest book, which I have ordered online. I really like her take on the vintage look and she also wears a lot of black. I have been taught by several people that black is the most practical choice because it goes with everything, it doesn't stain (but it does show animal fur), it is the most flattering and it looks classic. I like the way black looks against my pale skin and the tops in my wardrobe that get the most wear are black.

I hope you enjoy this picture post of lovely ladies from the past and present. Some of these photos are black/white so I am assuming that the actress is wearing Black, however I couldn't say for sure. Almost all of these pictures are of ladies wearing head-to-toe black which probably isn't that helpful in terms of inspiring future styling choices, but is definitely glamorous. Regardless of the time of year, it is always fun to add a little bit of Morticia/Dita to your wardrobe.

Stunning images one and all. I second your advice, when in doubt, to wear black. In a lot of settings, the same rings true for navy blue, grey, and brown, too. In terms of more vibrant colours, red is surprisingly versatile and works in a lot of situations, too.

I always adore your image filled posts like this and love that you didn't wait until October to post another edition of The Lady is a Vamp with us.

Tons of hugs,
♥ Jessica
